laser iplage spots and pigmenation
Age Spots and Pigmentation
These are areas of sun-damage, benign brown pigment, age spots (sun induced freckles), mottled pigmentation and poikiloderma, on the face, nose, cheeks, chin, forehead, hands, arms and chest area. It can be caused by many different factors, such as sun-damage, exposure to sunlight, sunburn, sun-beds and often becomes more noticeable and more pronounced with age.
How Does treatment work?
At Canterbury Cosmedics we use an IPL machine, which works on the principle of absorption of light energy into particular target pigment colour in the skin.
The light energy is converted to heat which damages the targeted area. It can work on small clusters of pigmented areas, or it can be used over the whole to give back an even complexion.
What happens during a treatment?
At Canterbury Cosmedics, we always offer you a free consultation and optional test patch. Treatment will begin when the results of the consultation and test patch are complete.
A cold gel is usually applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently applied to the skin and pulses of light are applied. Treatment is administered as a single treatment or a series of sessions that provide excellent long term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction.
What does the treatment feel like?
Most people tolerate the treatment well. It can be described as a mild sting like the ping of a rubber band.
Is It safe?
At Canterbury Cosmedics, we are regulated by The Care Quality Commission (previously known as The Healthcare Commission) and abide by all their procedures and regulations. We recommend that you check all clinics for their CQC registration number.
Are there any possible side effects?
In very rare circumstances, redness may occur (feeling a bit like sunburn).
Occasionally, a client could develop bruising or blistering, but this would settle within a few days. In our experience, this would generally only happen when a client does not tell us about specific medication or fake tan products and demonstrates why the consultation is of the utmost importance.
What kind of results should I expect?
Our clients can see a marked improvement in the overall texture, tone and colour of the skin, with a more even complexion which is paler in colour, with fewer darker patches and a more youthful appearance.
Who is the practitioner?
