Facial Thread Veins

Facial Thread Veins

Red Thread Veins / Broken Veins
These are superficial red, blue and purple patches that appear on the face, nose, cheeks, chin and forehead. This generally occurs when the vein dilates and suddenly becomes visible through the skin.

They are sometimes referred to as telangectasia.

They can appear as a single small vein, or as a collection of spidery veins. A network arising from a specific point and radiating outwards is generally referred to as a spider naevi.

It can be caused by many different factors, such as sun-damage, exposure to sunlight, extremes in temperature, smoking and alcohol.

How Does it work?

At Canterbury Cosmedics we use an IPL machine, which works on the principle of absorption of light energy into particular target pigment colour in the skin. the light energy is converted to heat which damages the targeted area. It can work on small single veins, clusters around the nose, chin and forehead, or fine blushes, often found across the cheeks.

What happens during  a treatment?

At Canterbury Cosmedics, we always offer you a free consultation and optional test patch. Treatment will begin, when the results of the consultation and test patch are complete. A cold gel is applied to the area to be treated, and you will be given dark glasses to protect your eyes from the bright light. The smooth glass surface of the IPL handpiece is gently applied to the skin and pulses of light are applied. Treatment is usually administered as a single treatment, or a series of sessions that provide excellent long term results, minimal adverse effects and high satisfaction.

What does the treatment feel like?

Each pulse of light feels like a slight sting or pinch, similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anaesthesia is required and most people tolerate the treatment well.

Is It safe

At Canterbury Cosmedics, we are regulated by The Care Quality Commission and abide by all their procedures and regulations. We recommend that you check all clinics for their CQC registration number.

Are there any possible side effects?

In very rare circumstances, redness may occur (feeling a bit like sunburn). Occasionally, a client could develop bruising or blistering, but this would settle within a few days. In our experience, this would generally only happen when a client does not tell us about specific medication or fake tan products, and demonstrates why the consultation is of the utmost importance.

What kind of results should I expect?

Our clients can see a marked improvement in the overall appearance with a decrease in the red patches, thread veins, spidery networks, also an improvement to areas of sun-damage, and general age spots on the skin. This treatment can also help with skin whose pores have become larger over time.
