How Does Treatment work?
What happens during a treatment?
The practitioner will mark the areas for treatment. Small injections will be put into those areas after cleaning with antiseptic solution.
‘Before’ photographs are taken which will be compared with those taken at a follow up appointment two weeks later.
What does the treatment feel like?
Is it safe?
Botox is a purified and safe form of botulin toxin which is licensed for use in treating many medical conditions, and used daily in the NHS.
Are there any possible side effects?
Minor side effects occur in a small number of clients and have usually disappeared within a few days. Immediately after injecting there may be some mild swelling and redness but this should respond well to ice packs or arnica.
There is the possibility of bruising but this can be covered with make-up. Rarely a drooping of the eyelid may occur which should resolve within a few weeks.
What kind of results should I expect?
Botox will create a subtle improvement to your appearance, and this is its appeal. Friends may comment on how relaxed you look, but you will still be able to smile and use expressions.
Who is the practitioner?
She is a Registered General Nurse with membership to the Royal College of Nursing and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. After qualifying in 1992 at St Bartholomew’s in London, she pursued a successful career in intensive care. Currently a Site Clinical Manager at Kent and Canterbury Hospital, she trained in medical aesthetics in Harley Street.
